Partners Live N Learn

‘Break Through Mentoring’ is an innovative program of the Live N Learn Foundation which unites local business people with unemployed youth, using employment mentoring as a solution to the issue of high youth unemployment.

The Live N Learn Foundation developed and piloted the program in Liverpool and has operated the highly successful Youth Employment Mentoring program in Western Sydney since 2005. In 2010 the Break Through Mentoring program will expended to La Perouse working with Indigenous youth from the Randwick and City of Botany Bay Local Government Areas.

The program is offered to youth, 16-25 years, who are ready to enter employment, but experience multiple barriers and are frustrated in their efforts to find work.

Break Through is operated in partnership between the Live N Learn Foundation and the local community where it operates. The program is designed to complement and enhance other services and works in collaboration with Business, Local Government, Job Service Australia providers and community organisations.

The project has been supported by program funding from the Australian Government under Regional Partnerships (DOTARS); Local Answers & Community Investment (FaHCSIA) and Indigenous Employment Fund (DEEWR).

Break Through was recognised for its innovation as the recipient of the Business Achiever Awards’ 2006 Community Contribution of the Year award sponsored by the Liverpool Leader.
